Detoxing my way into 2018
2017 has been a jam-packed year filled with hustle and bustle, adventure and growth. With my boys a little older and independent, I have more time to reflect and focus on shaping a career that is both authentic and stimulating. I let go of a design consultant position that wasn’t fulfilling me anymore, re-designed my website and started this blog. All of these changes have ignited a new passion of personal growth and I am tremendously grateful, however, I often find it hard to be completely present. As an entrepreneur and designer, I am constantly thinking about my next move, new skill I want to master and how to be as efficient as possible.
2018 is set to be another big year – as we will be adding a new puppy to our family in February, my husband and I are planning a 10-year wedding anniversary trip in May, my youngest starts kindergarten and I turn 40 in September. With all these milestones, personal and professional goals, my resolution for 2018 to be present and focused. That is why I have decided to be dedicate the month of January, to detoxing my mind, body and home to allow for better clarity. I will be enforcing a technology free night time routine, 14-day detox diet and decluttering my home. I will also be sitting down with experts in the field of personal organization and mediation to learn insider tips on best practices.
My first plan of attack to detoxing, is establishing a restorative a nighttime routine. Once my boys are down, so will the iPhone. My few hours of free time will be to reflect on my day, plan for the next and read books that inform and inspire. I use ban.do agendas to plan my life. This large agenda has a year, month, and week views, tons of notes pages, color-coded tabs, stickers, weekend to-dos and just so much more. I also just purchased The Five Minute Journal - daily affirmations, to do list-prompts that encourage you to reflect and evaluate.
January will also be the month where I finally kick my sugar habit. I hate to admit it, but my diet has been horrible this year. I have been eating out of convenience and haven’t put myself first. It’s time to start meal planning, sweating daily and getting restful sleep. After years being on and off with weight watchers and low carb diets, I want an diet that fuels my body with nutrients - and not stress about points or the apple I ate that blows my low carb diet. Starting Tuesday Jan 2, my hubby and I will be embarking on a 14-day holistic detox by Marissa Liana. A real food plan that permits diary, gluten and refined sugars. I am so excited about diving into this program and will be blogging about my experience and results at the end of the 14 days.
This January, I am excited to bring you content that aids in detoxing your mind, body and home. I hope that you tune in and follow my journey and tips on how to live your best life! Happy New Year!
